Mental health support starts with connection.
Pulling Together is bringing communities together to support the mental health of veterans, first responders, and their families. Through shared experiences, open conversations, wellness initiatives, and collective action, the organization is working to build resilience and reinforce an important message: it is okay not to be okay.
Founded by Jade Wong and Rory Thompson, Pulling Together is rooted in a shared commitment to service and giving back to those who serve their communities. The organization works alongside Wounded Warriors Canada, a national mental health service provider supporting trauma-exposed professionals and their families through culturally informed education, counselling, and training.
At the heart of Pulling Together is its flagship rowing event, taking place on September 5, 2026, at the Kerby Centre in Calgary. For seven hours, teams will come together to row with one shared purpose: supporting veteran and first responder mental health.
The event will bring together 20 teams, with up to 20 participants per team. Teams will commit to raising a minimum of $2,500, with participants able to rotate on the rower after a minimum of five minutes.
But Pulling Together is about more than one day.
Through its year-round initiatives, the organization creates opportunities for connection, wellness, resilience conversations, and tangible community impact. Previous efforts have helped support the delivery of an Operational Stress Intervention service dog to the Calgary Police Service, provided 50 tickets to the Western Canada Mental Health Conference for members of the veteran and first responder community, and contributed $10,000 toward a suicide awareness conference in Calgary.
In 2026, Pulling Together plans to continue building on that momentum through social and wellness events, resilience conversations and webinars, education and training, and support for Wounded Warriors Canada programs serving local trauma-exposed professionals.
The goal is simple: turn collective effort into real support.
X92.9 is proud to help spread awareness about Pulling Together and the work being done to support the mental health of veterans, first responders, and their families.
Because resilience isn’t something you have or don’t have. It’s something we build together.
