Miskanawah

Miskanawah (meaning “many little paths” in Cree) is an Indigenous-led charitable organization, grounded in cultural traditions and teachings, and has operated in Mohkinstsis for over 35 years. Miskanawah is a multi-service organization, offering programs and services to children, youth and families in the areas of: family support, youth services, clinical and cultural mental health supports, crisis support, housing support, and cultural and ceremonial supports. Their vision is that children, youth and families thrive within a culturally responsive community.

Inn From The Cold
Inn From The Cold helps families overcome the obstacles that can lead to a cycle of homelessness — that’s what they strive to do with every family that asks Inn from the Cold for help. For over 25 years, Inn from the Cold has been helping vulnerable families find stability in times of crisis. As the largest organization in the Calgary region that is dedicated solely to families experiencing a housing crisis, they believe that a community where no child or family is homeless is possible. Calgary Black Chambers is a not for profit organization providing scholarships and mentorship opportunities for Black professionals and students. New opportunities and programing is coming up for 2023 and the Calgary Black Achievement Awards were a huge success, check it all out, here.

Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary aims to remove barriers and empower the urban community through cultural reconnection, programs, services and access to resources that address the social and economic realities or indigenous peoples.

Twisted Element
Twisted Element– Calgary’s Queerhall and dance spot for many years is welcoming to any and all for a fun night. Inclusive, and engaging shows will always be found at Twisted Element as they promote equality by celebrating diversity in a unique nightlife experience.

Now ith reduced hours but still open Friday & Saturday evenings; with drag shows taking place at 9:30 p.m. on both evenings, followed by dancing on both levels!

Calgary Queer Arts Society
Calgary Queer Arts Society is a non profit organization located in Calgary that exists to give a voice to queer people and their stories. Historically LGBTQ2A+ individuals have been suppressed, deprived of power, misrepresented and often overlooked by institutional support systems. The Calgary Queer Arts Society is committed to transforming this reality and will continue to work passionately towards an inclusive future for all people.

Good Neighbour YYC – Calgary’s First pay-what-you-want thrift store and community pantry at 149 5th Avenue Southeast. This volunteer-run space is where any person or family facing income challenges or shifting situations can go for clothing, plants, food, books, and more. To donate or volunteer stop by.

Ukrainian  Canadian Congress- Calgary Branch is an umbrella society for over 30 Ukrainian organizations that aim to help represent Ukrainian Canadians to the different levels of government, aid in Ukrainian refugee & immigrant relocations in Calgary and create engaging events for Ukrainians and non to enjoy and participate in Ukrainian culture. Right now they are seeking aid for the situation in the Ukraine.
