GMC Stadium will host a major new addition to Stampede programming on Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the inaugural Calgary Stampede First Nations Rodeo & Relay brings together Indigenous competitors from across North America for an evening of sport, culture, and celebration.
The event is presented in partnership with the Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR) and developed with guidance from Elbow River Camp Tipi Holder advisors representing Treaty 7 First Nations. It is designed to showcase Indigenous excellence in both rodeo sport and cultural expression on a world-class stage.
Fans can expect a packed schedule featuring eight rodeo disciplines alongside five relay racing heats, highlighting some of the top Indigenous athletes in the sport. The event will also include cultural performances and a marketplace featuring First Nations vendors.
Competitors are expected to travel from across Canada and the United States, reflecting the growing reach of the event and the level of talent it is set to attract.
Arriving just ahead of The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the First Nations Rodeo & Relay adds to the long-standing tradition of rodeo on Stampede Park, which dates back more than a century.
