A previous Calgary reddit thread is gaining traction again online – downtown Calgary residents have tossed around the idea of a partway vehicle closure for Calgary’s 17th ave roadway. Many factors come into play when entertaining this idea, from both perspectives of business owners and patrons.

I wouldn’t mind this idea, I think it would promote a new creative way to utilize the area for future outdoor events, and get an even greater increase in foot traffic. Plus, eating dinner on a patio would be ten times more enjoyable without hearing someone’s cooked up honda civic rip by. Thoughts?
