Darkness into Light is an annual international 5k walk/run fundraiser for Pieta, a crisis intervention service in Ireland for those struggling with suicidal thoughts and/or self-harm. For the past eight years, DIL Calgary has partnered with Distress Centre Calgary (DCC) – DCC provides 24-hour crisis support, professional counselling, youth peer support and navigation and referrals through 211 and their programs at SORCe – all at no cost. Beginning at 5am on May 6, participants make their way around the 6km route from Peace Bridge (south side) and cross the finish line as dawn begins to break – in support of our event, the Calgary Tower will be yellow throughout May 6.
