X92.9′s Xposure is super stoked to be part of the Collective on Sundays. The kiddlings of The Random Task Collective have taken the state of Calgary’s All Ages scene into their own hands, and have put together fun workshop type shows for youth bands to hone their skills in whatever genre they’re part of.
The next installment of the Collective on Sundays will be February 22nd at The Cantos Music Society.

The Summerlad released their video for “City of Noise” and it’s AWESOME! Check it out
I was kicked into spring cleaning mode last week because it was so nice out…but because it was so nice out I wanted to go outside! Odd. So I spent my minus 23 weekend inside cleaning. How exciting….

Austin Texas notorius festival South By South West announced their first round of band’s to be part of this year’s festival…and I’m not overly excited (yet)
It’s not uncommon for festivals to save the big names for later to drive pass sales (infact, that happens all the time) but South By has always been top notch for solid line ups…even the baby bands.
While I might be forced to shut my yap once the full line up is announced, here are some bands that might excite you scheduled to play at SXSW 2009
Akron Family, Asobi Seksu, Ben Kweller, Buck 65, Crystal Method, Explosions in the Sky, Kid Sister, Mika Miko, Peter Bjorn and John, Primal Scream, Sage Francis, St. Vincent, White Lies.

With the end of the summer last year, came the end of one fantastic local band The Ostrich.
Members of the late Ostrich have re-grouped with Calgary friends to form The Sharp Ends. Their return was highly anticipated and their first show at Broken City was one for the books. Here’s some footage from The Sharp Ends at Broken City.
