I will admit that I am not the most hardcore NIN fan around. I like the Downward Spiral, I have lots of respect for Trent Reznor and I think he’s a cool guy. I don’t worship at the alter of Trent, but I do have  lot of respect for the man.

However that respect meter has been raised by several points over the past 24 hours, after someone pointed out to me via Twitter (as Reznor was accepting his Golden Globe for the Social Network soundtrack) that he has several retired racing Greyhounds.

This is cool.

I also have a retired racing greyhound who is awesome. Greyhounds aren’t generally the “fashionable” animal to have. You can’t carry them around with you like Paris Hilton’s teacup dogs and they’re not your stereotypical family dog like a Labrador. However retired racers DO make excellent pets, they’re extremely domicile and don’t require a lot of exercise. I love my greyhound and anytime I can, I make a pretty big deal out of it (umm…here, here, here, here and here)

Now, Trent doesn’t just have one Greyhound. He’s got at several. Not sure on the official count, but it’s somewhere between 3-5 and like a lot of greyhound owners (myself included) he likes to show them off.

Trent has also tweeted quite a bit about his dogs, like the time one had to go to the vet. Check the picture for the greatest dog bed/area ever.

And he’s also issued a call to people to adopt out retired racers as well. Long story short, if it was possible for Reznor to be a cooler person, he is one now. This also means that Trent is a dog person. Not a cat person. For some reason that feels like a win.
