Hey friends.
Remember back in December when the super rad folks at COP hooked me up with private snowboarding lessons? I learned how to ride in 3 lessons and since then, I haven’t looked back. I kinda wanted to update all you guys to let you know that I’m now hooked on riding and I’ve been out pretty much every weekend these past two months. I was worried that I wouldn’t dig it or I wouldn’t keep my skill set up, but quite the opposite has happened as every time I strap in, I just want to learn and try new things.
I’ve been spending most of my time at Nakiska, which has been a lot of fun, but this past weekend I joined Carly & Fraser down at Castle Mountain. I was a little nervous because I had heard that Castle is really tough to ride and can be gnarly at times. Turns out I heard wrong. Castle was awesome. Friendly staff, very fun set up and lots of great snow. We were lucky, because as soon as we parked, it started to dump.

Excuse my dorky grin but we were having an awesome time.
I’d never ridden fresh powder before and now I know why everyone has such a broner for the white stuff. From the first run of the day I was in heaven. Even as a guy who’s only been riding for 3 months, I was having a great time on their blue runs. I even wound up on a black run up in the “chutes” by accident and I managed to live to tell the tale.

Great snow all day
Long story short, snowboarding is awesome. Castle Mountain is awesome and we are so lucky to have stuff like this in our backyard. What’s your favorite place to ride?

My gf and I are in the same position but instead took lessons from our friends. We’ve been to COP once and sunshine once. I didn’t know if we’d like it either but it turns out that we absolutely love every single minute of it. Right now sunshine is our favorite place to board just cause the hill is so nice and there’re so many runs that gradually ease you into the sport
