The Town of Triberg, Germany is making headlines these days after creating a set of parking lots with gender specific stall. The stalls for women are wider and better lit. The stalls for men are narrow, unlit and often are beside a pillar of some kind. The mayor tells reporters that they’re having fun with the whole thing, but here’s my question: how many women would welcome this vs find it sexist? If I could have my own, easy to park in stall, damn RIGHT I’d be all over that!

Honestly, my wife can drive, but it already would have saved me a few hundred

I think it’s a brilliant idea to light up the area. safer for women in parking garages if that area has an issue with sexual assaults and what not, although the wider stalls makes it quite sexist.

If you just take wider stalls at face value then yeah it sounds sexist, however it may be helpful to women with kids that aren’t too careful about opening vehicle doors and trying not to smash the car beside you, or for loading groceries into the vehicle (although that sounds slightly sexist)
