Japandroids have a very interesting back story to their fame. Much like a lot of bands. Most bands, in fact, Japandroids released their debut and pretty much no one cared. It didn’t really exist in the minds of many people. And so the duo made the decision to call it quits.
Until it started getting more attention, and high profile music sites were praising these unknown record from a couple of guys out of Vancouver. Everything changed from that point on. They started playing more shows, and even working on a new record that wasn’t on the table otherwise.
It was called Celebration Rock fitted with fireworks on either end – and it was pretty big. They toured the world, played with big name acts, and after a couple of years supporting the album – things went black. They went off of all social media, and their website went void of activity. Until recently…the band is gearing up for a new record called ‘Near To The Wild Heart of Life’ out in January!
