Twenty One Pilots.
Why are Twenty One Pilots one of the biggest acts in the World right now? Sure, it could be a right place, right time moment. Where this band crosses genres so perfectly, at a time when so many new bands are trying to find that balance of alternative rock, meets pop. Twenty One Pilots nail that. Another reason they could be so huge is because their fan base is so loyal; Even though the band thinks this can’t last forever. Like, fans will dress up in black make-up, decked out in Twenty One Pilots gear, and line up for hours outside of their shows just to get the best seats. And sell out those shows in 3 minutes, or less. Such as the last time they were in Calgary.
After seeing the band live, I can tell you this: If their music isn’t your taste. And you don’t want to wear black makeup around your neck. That’s fine. But do me one favour; Do. Not. Miss them at X-Fest 2016 or you will regret it. No words, or videos on YouTube can do them justice. You have to see them for yourself.
One of the first songs that ever got me hooked on these guys was one off of their last record, Vessel, which featured Tyler and Josh’s grandfathers on the cover. A fun, quirky tune called House of Gold
Her stage name is an anagram of her real name, Ashley. But also the name of a street where she spent a lot of time in Brooklyn, Halsey Street. Fitting, right?
She has risen to fame pretty quickly. Going from living in her manager’s parents house, to selling out shows all over the world. You may have seen Halsey open of for the Metric/Imagine Dragons show a little while back, maybe you have seen her perform online, or maybe you haven’t heard of her at all. Well, as a bit of a refresher, here is a big song from Halsey called New Americana off her debut Badlands
Why blue for everything? Her hair, her album, her pictures? It’s because Blue is her creative colour. It’s the colour of the sky, and the ocean, and everything unexplored. So you can expect a lot of blue during her set for X-Fest and, along with Twenty One Pilots, she is an act you do not want to miss.
This is a track that is off of her Room 93 EP as well as one she liked so much that she put on Badlands. It’s called Ghost and will get you dancing a little bit. It was one of the first songs she wrote where she started the project of Halsey, and started going from acoustic singer/songwriter stuff, to something more fleshed out. Here’s the original version of the track.
